Each day Libbey engineers analyze customers' project challenges and develop new ways to solve them. We have nearly two centuries of experience in materials science and glassmaking. Our team uses technical-how to maximize product performance. Libbey's capabilities include:
When the application requires precision, several manufacturing processes are available. Our expertise in developing molds for various applications ensures the right product design. Libbey's manufacturing teams continually study our processes to improve them in order to provide a better product for you.
We can perform secondary processes to customize a part. Some of the applications are silk screening part numbers, logos or measurement increments, or spraying a part to achieve a matte or high gloss finish, or a color to coordinate with a product's design.
Libbey makes annealed soda lime, tempered soda lime, annealed borosilicate and tempered borosilicate glass. Annealed or tempered borosilicate glass offers high thermal shock and impact resistance. Some of the glass types can be colored to suit a specific requirement or for aesthetic purposes.
Each Libbey Glass plant follows strict, in-line quality checks. Parts are measured for precision and consistency, weighed, and inspected visually before being packed and shipped to you, all part of our quality commitment.
Our test labs utilize the latest instrumentation in analyzing our products. Libbey's test lab staff has years of experience and works very closely with our manufacturing teams to continually enhance our processes. Many of these team members came from the manufacturing line, and are expert trouble shooters.
